Why has no one come up with an ice cream delivery service? Or a chocolate delivery service? I know a lot more people that have cravings for ice cream and chocolate than they do for pizza.

And isn't it true, that the times you want ice cream and pizza, you're in your most comfortable clothes, which are by definition clothes you do not want to inflict onto the unwary public? Seems to me, that's the time y ou really would want delivery.

But this wonderful idea does not exist.

Neither does caffinated orange juice. I suppose I shall have to continue to give my money to the caribous until such a fine product comes to your neighborhood grocery store.

kozmo.com was fabulous for that sort of thing; but it has since gone out of business, at least in Boston. it's a tragedy :(

The horror!

Although, if I recall, the delivery charge was a bit inhibitive.

Alas, I may have to go down to and get some chocolate peanut butter action.

Chocolate Marshmallow!!!!

O God, Oberweis. How I miss Oberweis, even though it is SO much more expensive now and not QUITE the same. The Oberweis in Aurora (where I'm from) was right next to this great kid's shoe store called Follin's, that was actually run BY Mr. Follins and so I got to go get new shoes and ice cream. I could go on and on, but I'll try not to bore you.

Anyhow, Julie Oberweis was in my grade at my high school (they are an Aurora family and have had TONS of tragedy in their family), and she brought Oberweis ice cream to one class a semester. She always picked her favorite class. And luck of luck, even though we had classes together, she never ONCE picked the classes we shared. Damnitalltohell. Actually Julie went to U of I too. I didn't know you went there! I did too!

I miss Oberweis just about most of all food in Illinois.

Re: Chocolate Marshmallow!!!!

Wow, the Cult of U of I expands!

Wow, you'd think that after 8 semesters, and sharing the classes, she might think one of the classes you had were her favorites. Harumph!

Don't you miss chicago style pizza, too? MMm I would miss deep dish dough-y pizza so much.

No doubt.

So did you live in Champaign or Urbana? What did you study? Which diner was this?

I lived in IT (huge mistake), Allen Hall, and then a house on High St. at the cross of Lincoln Ave. I worked at Delight's for over 2 years!

Tell me more, tell, tell.

Oooooooh Delights!!

I miss delights; I would get raspberry and chocolate chip ice cream from there regularly. Sigh!

You do not know what you ask when you ask about my champaign days; I went down there in 1991 and didn't manage to leave until 1999. I did, however graduate with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 1995, so I was only in school for 4 years; I had ended up getting interested in computers my Junior year but really didn't see any need to change majors when I liked my studies, and could get out in 4 years. I just didn't want to be a ChE for my career.

I got interested in computers because the summer between my sophomore and junior year I got stranded in Champaign (at 202 E White to be exact) when my carbuerator had enough, and up and died on me. My friend, who worked for the public computing sites, knew that they had *just* been given the job of running the Undergrad computer lab, and they were looking for new people to start in the fall and got me an interview and I was hired and spent lots and lots and lots of time in the UG.

Oh the stories I could tell, but that's for another time; remind me about them sometime and I'll elaborate.

This whole Site Consultant thing is important, because in Janurary the head Tech Guru guy, a full timer, had "Tech Pup" classes, where he taught some sitecons the rudimentarys. My friend who got me the job was on the student tech crew, so I was interested to see what the fuss was about.

Basically, the short story is, we pups were given an assignment to install hardware and while the guys were busy compteting and showing off how cool they were, the other girl and I went off together and helped each other out. Because of that I was on the Tech Crew, and thus began my life in computers, which explains the missing 4 years after graduation.

A full time Tech manager job opened with the public sites, and I stayed there for 2 years, then got moved into a faculty liason position for the sites, and then I got sick of that and moved up to DCL to run UIUC's DNS, among other random net things.

Whew, that was longer than I imagined, but you did ask!

Anyway, I lived in ISR for 3 years (woo, ethernet connection), then at the corner of stougton and lincoln in urbana for a year, then in champaign up by the walmart and I-74 for two years, then into a horrid house in urbana just south of green and main street for a year. Then it was back to Champaign, on Williams between randolph and state, then back to Urbana off Fairview and Vine.

Then I went back to Chicago, to Palatine, not the Glen Ellyn where I grew up.

Now it's your turn! What did you study, when? Did you ever sit on the big statue on the corner of 6th and green?

Re: Hai.

I practically lived in Allen from Sept '95 until the end of my Sophomore year, around May 97. My Chemistry buddy was a resident there, and we'd be up until all hours in the front lounge trying to figure out our labs.

Can you imagine that we might have passed each other and not known we'd be chatting years later? :)

And not that I expect you to know they guy, but my Chem buddy was Eric Kohler, if the name rings a bell; lived on the 1st floor of Allen.

Wow, trippy.

Yeah they closed nationwide. And, it was quite the scandal, because they took almost all the video rental boxes out of Seattle before they shut down and people were confused about how to take em back. Then, suddenly, when they closed, they put on the website that anyone who still had movies was being charged the full price on their credit cards.

Boy were people pissed.
