Recommendations needed for Project Management book
Hey - my LJ brain trust: what book or books would you recommend for someone wanting to get into project management?

I'm thinking more Just in Time stuff versus the whole PMP stuff but a range of things wouldn't be bad...

When you say 'wanting to get into PM' what exactly do you mean? They've had some sort of team lead experience and want to formalize the process understanding / best practices or are looking to get a cert? What's the background?

In general, if the person's looking for a taste of PM and a small step to place onto their resume without going for the full-bore PMP cert, have them look into a Project+ certification - a lot less overhead and a good stepping stone. I would also recommend joining PMI (Project Management Institute) because they've got a lot of good resources,a career path guide and an online e-Library with a LOT of material up there for free. Worth every penny for the membership and a lot of companies will absorb the cost.
