Huh. Who knew?
And who knew there was a grass-roots uprising against it?
I mention this to everyone's favorite Australian ex-pat, who happens to be from Perth and this is what ensues:
maigrey101: nice of y'all to get on the band wagon: Australia has implemented Daylight Saving Time in the West Australia (Perth) time zone starting in December 2006 for a trial period of three years.
garth: I know
garth: We are a bunch of rednecks.
me: and wow, i didn't know there was such an uproar against it!
garth: I told you: we are a bunch of rednecks.
me: and CRIMINALS [running joke, as England shipped all their criminals off to Australia]
garth: Though also the close timing between "let's do it" and it actually starting was a factor.
garth: Well, we are all criminals, but Western Australia is home to a bunch of rednecks.
garth: We're sort of the Texas of Australia
me: so what do your folks think aout it?
me: yeah, the land o' sunshine!
garth: I'm sure they like it.
garth: My parents are no rednecks.
