Last night, my awesome friend Adam decided to come over to watch Intolerable Cruelty with me, since it has to go back to the video store today, and he came over right after work so he could upgrade my computer to XP and install my memory. The best part? I didn't even expect him to do this tonight, even though I'd asked him to help me upgrade my computer at some point (after I'd bought a memory upgrade). Of course, I did have to put up with his mocking my total lack of security and gazillion programs that run at start up, but that's par for the course.
For those of you playing along, yes, I work in computers and I probably COULD have done this myself - the one thing I truly despise and really don't do well is PC support and upgrading. I can do it if I have do, but I'd rather eat bananas. And I hate bananas. With a passion. This is probably one of the few things in life that I will shamelessly play the girl card for to get a guy to do for me. The bonus is, most of my friends are geeks who actually like doing this stuff, as it proves their manliness or something.
So now I have a computer with upgraded RAM (and a burn on my hand from the CPU fan where I tried to install the memory - more proof why I shouldn't do this), and XP on it. Now I just have to reinstall all the programs. Whee.
And we did watch the movie, too, it was amusing, but not all that impressive, alas.
