I'm just chatty kathy today
Two things I've learned in the last 24 hours:

  1. My dog is afraid of my lava lamp (that I just got fixed), and this cracks me up to no end. I may end up running the lava lamp much more, because of this

  2. You can defrost chicken quite fast if you put it on the counter above the dishwasher, and then run said dishwasher.

Just thought you'd like to know.

Oh that is class that he is afraid of the lava lamp. Most cats are afraid of vacuum cleaners, but it still amuses me when I turn it towards Sally, just to turn it towards Sally.

Don't tell, but I do that to Wrigley with the vacuum, too. ;)

We power defrost meat by putting it in a large bowl of cool water, and usually sticking that in the fridge.

Thanks to water's spectaculary high specific heat, meat defrosts pronto that way. :)

I think this is quicker ;)

Heh, probably.

I found through a few failed experiments that the water must be cool: warm or hot water defrosts quicker, but I *ahem* damaged my meat *ahem* that way.

defrost? what about baking..

Sure, you could just defrost a chicken by placing it over the dishwasher, but what about baking a filet of salmon in the dishwasher? Certainly that's gotta be worth points.

Re: defrost? what about baking..

Yeah, I've heard that it's good, but I've never tried it, myself :)
