So, fixed the tank to bowl gasket problem with the toilet; water no longer gushes out of the tank when I flush it.

Instead, water drips from the bolts connecting the tank to the bowl. I guess I need to buy some washers for that, since the ones in the tank are ancient and redo the whole unscrewing the tank torture.

I am so never becoming a plumber.

Washers might help. Did you replace the gasket? If so, I'm surprised it didn't come with the appropriate washers.

I fixed my toilet with a screwdriver and no water spillage. :-\

Did you have to take the tank off entirely?

And I did replace the gasket, but it just came with the gasket, no washers. The washers are like $1.00, though, so I'm going to try that.

And then if that doesn't work, I'm calling the plumber.

No, thankfully, though if the fix I tried hadn't worked, it would have meant replacing pretty much all the innards of the toilet, a messy (or at least wet) proposition in itself.
