faery princess - counterglow

Ahhh, a clean house.

I was forced to realize last month that I hate housecleaning. Seriously, I hate it. Okay, so I always really knew it, but I thought that hiring a housecleaning service was kind of failing or copping out, because I should be able to do that myself.

So when someone I respected made me actually say, "I hate housecleaning, and having a non clean house depresses me", I was face to face with the fact that I would rather do anything else if I can avoid cleaning the house. This same person said, "You just told me how much you've made this year playing poker. You can spare some of that and treat yourself to a cleaning service as a reward for winning."

So I finally did. I called up Merry Maids, had them come over and give me an estimate, and signed up right away for them to start the service. Even though they hadn't done any cleaning at all, I felt a huge weight lifted from my chest that this would be taken care of.

Of course, my friend Julie decided she wanted to crash at my house before the initial cleaning so I had to do some cleaning on my own anyway, but that's another story.

They came for the initial cleaning yesterday, and I came home to the lovely amazing wonderous thing we call a spic and span house. Of course, half of my trashcans were in different spots, and my dining room table was rearranged, and a couple other things changed here and there that I had to put back, but it is so worth it.

I walked around the house last night (and this morning since I'm working from home), going "Wow, my house is SO CLEAN!" It's fantastic, and I refuse to feel guilty about employing a cleaning service because this makes me feel so happy.

I'm also not going to feel guilty about taunting Pauly about the fact that I got AA three times while sitting at the same table as he did, while he just got A6o's. HA HA HA! Of course, I need to be careful or I may end up with a terrible nickname come Vegas time.
