CB and my boss are off in Michigan dealing with the mess that is Farmington Hills. And me? I'm having a spectacular
day. I told CB they need to go to Michigan more often!
I come into the office and find a 'Thank you for your efforts' piece of paper on my chair. I mean, sure, it's a printed piece of paper, and I admit I'm looking at it cynically, but hey at least it's there. And, my boss's boss was in this morning -- he wasn't supposed to be back until Tuesday; so, I don't have to handle things all by myself with my peer (CB), my boss, and my boss's boss all out.
Not even a 75 minute phone call with legal could ruin my mood. It wasn't as bad as I thought, though I was named in the suit. Everything else is confidential.
I even got accidentally dissed for lunch, and it didn't bother me, because I really wanted to eat the lunch I'd brought, as I'm eating healthier and being good, and really meaning it. Plus, I've been SUPER productive and doing those things I hate.
And I got to solve a relatively easy problem with Ameritech, thrilling one of the people I work with on a regular basis. How cool am I?
On top of that, I called the tea shoppe I found on yp.yahoo.com, and called him up, and asked, "Hi, this is probably a very silly question, but do you sell tea there?" Really, I said just that, and then explained that I found him through yahoo, and I missed the little Walnut Street Tea Company we had in Champaign, and did he sell bulk teas? He said he did, and that just made my day even better. He's open until 7 tonight, so I will stop by and envelope myself in aromatic tea yumminess.
I was in such a good mood, I even went to the other building to deal with the customers who drive me batty-to-the-nth-degree. I took a look at what they wanted and said "I'll have to have Ameritech quote you on that," to which they replied, "Oh, I thought you would just run that from the wiring closet." I laughed and said, "No, we have a contractor run all the cables from there. This isn't [the other building where you just ran amok]." He said "Oh, I know," in a bit of an exasperated way, because we don't let them do anything themselves, and they're engineers and that annoys them.
Plus, have been getting many amusing pages from CB, from the ones telling me that facilities is in much worse shape than we are up there, a feat I did not consider possible; his rolling-his-eyes-as-he-types pages talking about the boss wanting to go to strip clubs with CB, me paging our boss's boss re, this and getting a message back about boss and strip clubs being like matter and anti-matter combining. Hee.
And now I'm off to the tea shoppe, and then to my new favorite store
to exchange my raspberry syrup and pick up more wine.
