on lazy Saturdays
I went to Paula's birthday barbecue at the K's last night, which was also the first test of the puppy visiting system. I was worried that the K's dog, Skates, and Wrigley would never stop their playful wrassling, and I'd have to take him home early. Turns out, that wasn't the case. Be it the humid weather, or the fact that they both were on tie-outs, but they only went at it for about 30 minutes (and Wrigley didn't try and eat Skates' head, nor did Skates, the border collie mix, nip at Wrigley's heels) before chilling out. I stayed until 11:30 or so, and by that time both dogs were soaking wet and tired from the 30 minute on, 30 minute off schedule of roughhousing.

I took Wrigley up, and was checking email and playing some network settlers of catan on the laptop up on the bed (go go gadget wireless LAN) while Wrigley collapsed next to my bed and proceeded to sleep like a log and have little doggie dreams while his paws twitched back and forth. It was terribly cute.

He let me sleep in until 10:30 or so, when I awoke to the sounds of much needed rain. After letting him out, getting him a bit damp, and letting him sleep a bit more, it was time to go get caffeinated.

One caribou coffee skim raspberry mocha, a cheddar-herb bagel, and two new books from the library later, I turned on the cubs game, and cranked out 3 letters (tyche, gucky and jezaurelle, keep an eye on your mailboxes...).

I also have a whole wheat bagel and chocolate chip cream cheese waiting for me in the fridge (the cream cheese, not the bagel), a kitty curled up next to me, and a doggie sprawled out almost asleep on the other side of the room.

It's a lovely Saturday.

Yay! I can't wait for the letter. :) Thank you, my dear. And, oh, The Virgin Suicides is such a good read.

Excellent. It's currently 3rd in the stack of Books To Be Read. I'm in the middle of Relic right now, and then Bookends is a library "hot read", meaning it's due in 7 days, and thus must go next, but then, I shall tackle The Virgin Suicides.

And thank you for the lovely page -- you are darling!
