Well, now I'm leaning towards "Beau". :)

And he wasn't done at 3! :( I call at 6 and he *might* be done then, else I have to pick him up tomorrow. Think good puppy thoughts!

Why would I possibly care about that sort of thing? Besides, it has lots of vowels, and isn't a name I'd be embarassed to yell across the exercise yard, like some others that have been suggested.

Really? Seems like a name that can be sharp and commanding ("BO!"), cajoling ("BoOOOOoo..!") or just bellowed across a field ("BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"). It's got good vowel sounds and is rather crisp.

Not like some mushy-mouthed names that have been suggested. ("Oslo"?)

Hm. Guess your dogs were just a hell of a lot stupider or independent than mine, because I never had to make up this many rules about a freakin' NAME just to consider it suitable to the purpose.

Hell, most dogs come if you call it "moronic ball of hair" as long as you do it with a consistent tone and style.

I dunno, why are you always being so condescending to maigrey? You always seem to have some bug up your ass about whatever she's excited about.

And I didn't realize it was insulting to imply that you must train special dogs or something, because no one I know with your generic home pet dog seem as concerned about the specifics of pitch, timbre, sonorousness and vowel quality of their dog's name as you are. But then again, maybe if you're training them as work dogs, or hunters or something, you need, y'know, TWO distinct vowel sounds to get the best out of their attention.

Then again, maigrey's worrying about how her "cousin's neighbor's hamster has that same name" and thus it's unsuitable for use on her dog as well. :)

Or maybe you just never trained yours.

Point taken. Mine just know your basic "Sit", "Stay", "Roll over", "Fetch", "Come when I call you" and "stop that, dammit!".
